Why Volunteer?

The scope of our influence is determined by the success of our volunteer base. The Dream Center of Tampa places a high value on all of our volunteers. You are partners, coaches, leaders, mentors and influencers and  a huge part of allowing us to be able to continue to do what we do.

Programming includes art, computer, gym, homework help/tutoring, athletics and mentoring. During your time with the students, you must be willing/able to:

  • build relationships

Volunteer Leaders - Exploring

Exploring is sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America and is a unique career exploration program for young men and women ages 11-14 (6th – 8th grade). It provides students an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of career fields and to network with professionals already working in those fields. They receive hands-on experience to determine whether or not a particular career field is right for them. The program comes with a curriculum and training.

We are looking for a minimum of two (2) volunteer leaders for this program. The time commitment is one hour (between 5:00 – 7:00 PM), one day per week (Monday-Thursday). Exact day and time will be determined based on volunteer availability. An approved background check is required.

Mentor/Leader - Boys 2 Men

Seeking volunteers to serve as mentors in the Dream Center Boys 2 Men ministry. Providing boys quality time, Christian men act as role models to share male bonding and critical character building values through fun activities connected to practical Biblical themes.

The ministry is for single moms, grandmothers or guardians of elementary and middle school aged boys (ages 6-14) who want their boys mentored in the Christian faith. There is no cost. Outings include Lowry Park Zoo, Busch Gardens, Bucs Football games, Glazer Children’s Museum, touring a Fire Station, canoeing, swimming and hiking at Hillsborough State Park.

The time commitment is to meet on 3rd Saturday of every month 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM. An approved background check is required.
