Development Director
Position Summary
The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of the Dream Center’s fund-raising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns.
Qualifications
- Must embrace the mission of the Dream Center
- Proven track record in raising funds and developing awareness
- Analytical thinker who can drive strategy
- Experience soliciting and cultivation major gift donors, both individual and instituational
- Ability to drive strategy and achieve goals
- Dedication to the mission, and vision, with a demonstrated enthusiasm for the organizational culture and values
- Proficien in use of technology as a management reporting tool
- Strong interpersonal and writing skills
- have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising
- Possess the skills to work with and motivate staffm board members and other volunteers
- Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships
- Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to intiate donor visits and fundraising calls
- Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals
- Display a positive attitude show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability
Responsibilities: Development

Maintain a development office and organize all development activities

Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective
communications with them.

Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major
donors.

Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.

Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.

Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.

Direct capital campaigns and other major fund-raising drives.

Coordinate fund-raising special events.
-
Direct employee fund-raising drives.

Write grant proposals to foundations and other corporations.

Oversee prospect research.

Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the Dream Center with the community.

Staff Board Development Committee meetings.

Oversee fund-raising database and tracking systems.

Supervise and collaborate with other fund-raising teams.

Oversee creation of publications to support fund-raising activities.

Maintain gift recognition programs.

Always demonstrate professional conduct.

Perform other related duties as requested.
Responsibilities: Public Affairs

Serve as the public relations agent for the Dream Center.

Promote major Dream Center events.

To design and implement an annual student recruitment program.

To communicate with feeder programs, the school community, and the general public in order to assist the students in providing a clear path for their future.

To develop and update promotional materials.

To publish the Dream Center newsletter, annual report, and alumni news.

To prepare media releases.
